Tip 1: Lace Front Colors
One of the most important steps in preparing any wig with any style, is the color of the lace. The lace on a wig is the artificial "skin" between your skin and the wigs hair. Therefore, it is extremely important that you take the lace color into consideration. You can do any of the following;
One of the most important things in choosing a wig of any style is the color of the lace. The lace part of a lace front wig is the artificial "skin" between your skin and the hair of the wig. Choosing the right color will make the wig look much more natural, therefore it is extremely important that you take the lace color into consideration. Two things you can do to ensure a good match are:
1. Purchase a wig with the color/tone closest to your facial color. Note that not all manufactures provide a variety of lace colors, typically offered in transparent or tan.
1. Purchase a wig where the color of the lace is close to your skin color. Note that not all manufacturers provide a variety of lace colors and the lace is typically offered in transparent or tan.
2. Use your concealer to color correct your entire lace front (lace only, not the hair or wig cap). After the lace is covered, set the concealer with your color powder foundation, or with the contour powder if you contour your outer face.
Tip 2: Thin out the hair line
Some lace front options come "pre-plucked", meaning that the hairline of the wig is plucked to fade for a more natural look. If you purchase a lace front wig that is not pre-plucked, simply use tweezers and pluck the hairline in a random pattern moving about 1-1.5 inches up the hairline.
Step 5: Bleaching the knots on your lace front
In order to make lace closure sew in, the hair is ventilated strand by strand with a tiny needle. The hair strand stays securely on the lace through a knot. When hair is tied to a lace base, there is a dark knot where each strand is secured to the lace front which can stand out. Bleaching this little knots will blend the dark spots to a natural color, rather than a blunt black spot.
